Why I love to help small businesses grow
I have worked for myself for over 20 years now and have learnt so much, mainly from trial and error! One thing that has never changed is my passion to help out others; whether it is in business or in life. So becoming a coach was the next natural step for me.
I am originally from Stockport, but moved to South-East London in my early twenties. Most of my working life I worked behind the scenes, setting up offices and dealing with staff. So I have always had a good grasp of the financials aspect of running a business. My last employed role was as a Finance Director.
In 2005 I set up my own publishing business SE Magazines, which now prints three local community magazines in South East London. This gave me the opportunity to step out and be the face of the business. I have learnt so much running SE Magazines and am pleased that after almost 17 years, it is still going strong.
My love of helping my community with the mags, lead me to fundraise for a local charity. My events background helped me launch a variety of local events including running an annual fair and a charity lunch. During this time, I have built up many local connections and it was this that lead me to mentoring and coaching.
As a long-time member of Entrepreneurs Circle, I was delighted when they launched a coaching programme in early 2020 and spent part of the lockdown doing my training. Now as a fully licensed EC coach, I am enjoying helping other small business owners achieve their goals.
In October 2021 I was awarded Most Inspiring Business Person at the National Entrepreneur Awards 2021. I was also a finalist in the EC Coach of the Year category.
